Howdy, I'm Ryn
It's pronounced like the bird, "wren", and it's short for Kathryn. I'm a writer, diffusion MR image analyst, MSW student, and future death care advocate. I'm currently an image analyst and lab manager in the lab of Dr. Anya Benitez at the Medical University of South Carolina. We study Alzheimers and related dementias.
I am also an MSW student at Winthrop University. My goal is to one day open a practice offering psychosocial and logistical grief and death care services. I am advocate of the death positivity movement, which seeks to demystify death and grief to encourage open conversation about these difficult topics. Death positivity is not only concerned with individual well-being, but also societal well-being. You can read more about my philosophy on death positivity and my future goals here. Additionally, I have approximately seven thousand hobbies. Writing, sewing, cosplay, reading, video games, tabletop RPGs, alternative fashion, death positivity, cycling, weight lifting, fashion history, touring churches and cemeteries, archery, and whatever else catches my eye. One day, I feel pretty confident, I will publish a book. I think that'll be a neat thing to do. What kind of book? Who knows? Whichever one of the ten I've started, I assume. |
